Repatriation and International Services
The Searson family have extensive experience with international repatriation to and from countries all over the world. We work closely with several agencies which extend reliable and value for money charges in respect of air freight charges. Our International services are detailed in two sections, European and Worldwide.
Bringing your loved one home
Repatriation following a death of a loved one when they may be abroad in another country, can be a confusing and emotional process. Not only have you lost someone close to you, which is bad enough, but they have died in a foreign country.
The Searson Family Funeral Service understand about this, and we can help you with repatriating a body back to the United Kingdom.
European Services for the deceased
Being on the south coast, we are just a short journey to both the Channel Tunnel and ferry services with Europe on our doorstep. Ease of access and free movement between most European borders mean that road journeys provide a quick, controlled and cost effective repatriation to many of the main towns and cities.
The Searson family’s ‘European Service’ utilises their own vehicles, own staff and will take a loved one, within a designated zone, to or from any location. We see your loved one to their final destination; we can even attend the funeral and see the entire process through from start to finish. During the repatriation journey you will be kept informed of progress, receiving email/text updates every fifty miles and a telephone call when the final destination is reached.
This dedicated service does NOT rely upon freight or shipping agents, something that can cause excessive charges to any repatriation. Our charges extend exceptional value, and we will provide you a firm quotation and not an estimate. All costs are identified, clearly detailed with full transparency in everything we do.
Our European Service allows you specify the final destination; we GUARANTEE to convey your loved one safely, with full legal compliance and, above all, treating them with dignity, courtesy and respect.TALK TO US
The ‘Worldwide Service’ provides for repatriation to and from virtually any country, even war zone areas. We employ several freight forwarding companies who extend a comprehensive service and exceptional charges. Worldwide Services forward your loved one to a specified airport where the coffin will go through local Customs clearance before awaiting a Funeral Director or other third party to collect the coffin and take it to the final destination for burial or cremation.
When sending a loved one overseas for the funeral it is important to remember than some countries do not allow the coffin to be opened. As such, and with the use of zinc lining in the coffin, cremation may well not be an option. It is also the case that certain countries do have problems with corruption, and monies being forwarded to cover third party costs must be done so in a way that ensure safe and secure financial transactions. We work closely with all the major Consulates and Embassies to ensure all local legalities are adhered to and that the necessary documentation is completed correctly.
Charges for our ‘Worldwide Service’ are relatively standard, although freight charges will vary dramatically from country to country and from airline to airline. However, to provide you an general guidance on the related costs associated with a repatriation, we have a PDF brochure displaying these charges openly.TALK TO US
